"We are slaves to the subliminal"

nope. The brain pays no attention to the subliminal. Scientific studies proved that subliminal messages don't affect human behavior (don't ask me where to see the studies, I read that in my psychology classes 2 years ago) and there's a part in our brain which fonction is specifically to filter important/unimportant information.

Thanks for sharing. I'm listening to Scar Symmetry at the moment.
It's interesting to hear other people's take on lyrics.

yeah, there's a big difference. When you see, for example, a pack of cigs for 0.1 seconds, I doubt you'll start smoking and, for that matter, buy that specific pack of cigs you saw. Your brain didn't have the time to analyse anything.

But in a brand war suggestive/subliminal advertising does indeed work. Hopefully you can recall the Pepsi SEX cans of the late 80s and early 90s and also the endless commericals featuring beautiful and happy people knee deep in a company's product.
