we filled out paperwork to adopt a dog this weekend

border collie/hound mix! his name is sam and he's 8 months old.

Border collie mixes are great. We have one that is half border collie/half beagle. She managed to inherit the border collie herding instinct and overall intelligence, so we let her help round up cows and drive them back to the barn, which she loves. The beagle ancestry mostly comes out in the way she tracks quarry.
