We Need to Talk about Kevin

i don't know, but Elephant portrayed this whole school like some lifeless world ... i mean, for me it would have worked better if it was a kind of fun flick with kids beign kids, goofing off and all ... Dazed and Confused style :loco: .... and then 2/3 of the way in ... boom ... this fucking chaos out of nowhere.

Maybe that was because that's how the killers saw high school? What you suggest would have made an equally shocking, and good, movie, but I do like the kind of introverted, every day mundanity of Elephant. And if Dazed And Confused is actually what every day high school is like in America.. Man, I missed out :loco:

Edit:On a sidenote I was watching D&C this morning for the first time in over a year, I'd forgotten how great that movie was...
 
lets put it this way ... in the late 80's in NY it was close to Dazed ... so I can imagine in the 70's in Texas ... well it was like that.

except kids were a bit more optimistic back then ... and did not stay indoors.
 
My wife's 17 year old niece has to walk through a metal detector every day when she goes to high school.

Elephant was a funny old film. I didn't really like it that much when I watched it, and yet, one year later I can remember every single aspect of it. It's like it lives with you even after the movie finished.

Bully is just sick. Fuck that.

P.S. And fuck teachers for turning a blind eye on those kids getting bullied. When that Columbine shit happened, they targetted those same teachers and all the "jocks". It wasn't like they went on a random rampage, they LITERALLY went out and killed those who fucked them over.
 
I still say that the people who did that have some SERIOUS SERIOUS issues and you gotta wonder where the parents and shit were.

I survived that shit just fine. Never even thought of going on a murderous rampage. Though I would be happy tos ee those fucks die. I laugh everytime I hear about a few of them ending up in jail.

I was never picked on bad or assaulted or anything, but I saw people that were. Bullies are pretty much the scum of the earth. Thankfully most people get over it once their hormones level out, but obviously there are still some adult cases.

Well, animals are not like people, Mrs. Simpson. Some of them act badly because they've had a hard life, or have been mistreated...but, like people, some of them are just jerks. Stop that, Mr. Simpson.

yeah. I got assaulted pretty bad, and my parents had some shit going on so i didn't want to worry them so I kept it to myself and hidden. Though its rather difficult (but i did it) to hide a stab wound.

It's amazing what you can hide sometimes. I was in the 5th grade or so and three stitches on my chest ripped open and I was bleeding pretty good for hours. I just let it happen, positioning my shirt so that the blood would drain straight down my torso and into the waist of my jeans. Nobody knew until I got home from school and pointed it out to my Mom.

And did anyone here actually bully somebody else? I bullied two kids my age in junior high and I still feel bad about it to this day.
 
I got bullied when I was in middle school for hooking up with all the dudes in the grade above me's girls. YESSSSS best thing ever to get bullied for.


EDIT: Also got in fights a lot for being a redskin, even though I look white as fuck...they just used it as an excuse because I bopped their broads, bitchessssssss.
 
being 6'7" in high school was a lot of fun ... not!
actually nobody fucked with me ...

haha, I remember first day in JHS, I was fresh off the boat from Romania, literally 3 weeks into the country ... no English ... tall, goofy, lanky kid ... some kids were picking on me, cursing me out ... me like Borat just going ... Jes, Jes, Jes ...

then like a few weeks later I was playing ball with them in an Aces High Maiden shirt ... I adapt quickly. :loco:

not all "US schools" are like that...
