The Titanic (a ship made from steel), is sitting at the bottom of the ocean (made of salty water.....no offence to salty), and experts have only just discovered that it's rusting ???!:OMG:

The wonders of modern science.

I could sell them a Camira that used to tow boats, which they could prolly use as a laboratory specimen to demonstrate the principal.

BTW, anyone wanna buy a Camira wagon ????

It's an 8 seater !!!

With the Big Block 2 litre.

At the depth the ship is in (thus lying under extreme pressure), and the amount of silt covering it - to find it is rusting is pretty surprising. That sort of environment doesn't encourage this to disintergrate.

Just that seeing as the form in which the majority of the iron in the world is found is an oxide of one sort or another, an iron vessel returning to a state of higher entropy should not have been a surprise to anyone.

Yep, there is reduced oxygen down there, however the silt tends to help crevice corrosion to a degree also. Crevice corrosion is likely the form that will see the boat as a plie of steel plates before the century is out.

(Apologies, I had to look up who Dirk Pitt was - does Cussler write decent books ? I've seen them, never read them)

You can say that again...(about the Camira that is).

I hate the fucking thing.

I flog the thing to death, and it still gets decent mileage and doesn't break.

Gets me to work on time every day...........another reason to hate it I guess.

I've never seen the movie, and I don't remember reading the book (although I have read it).
Clive Cussler has written some fantastic books though, Sahara probably being the best.

I used to have a sedan........it was quite reliable, ended up selling it to a mate, and the motor blew up!!!
Never liked the cunt anyway.........

RUSTING? Wow... They will put a man on the moon one day those scientists, mark my words.
