Queen's Brian May Named University Chancellor

"He not only will rock you, he will also school you. Putting his newly awarded Ph.D. to good use, Queen guitarist Brian May has been appointed the chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University. The 60-year-old May, already an honorary fellow of the university, will be installed in the post early next year.

Having recently completed his doctorate in astrophysics, which he had put off in 1970 to form Queen with Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor, the rocker properly addressed as Dr. May called the appointment "a great honor and a great new challenge." If the university's sports teams choose 'We Are the Champions' as their fight song or the school adopts as a campus nickname the Fat Bottomed Girls, the selection of May justifies itself right there."

Some more for you:

A certain singer of a band from Denmark received his PhD in Danish History and Archelogy.

A certain guitar player of a band from California has a MBA from Harvard and is a highly placed executive at Disney.

A certain Keyboard player of a band from Finland has the equivilent to a BS in Music.

And there are lots others also. A big Hearty congratulations to Chancellor May

Yeah the A Lower Deep guys are geeks too. Billy has BA's in Philosophy and English and an MA in Comparative Literature, Tim has a BA in Music Theory and Troy has a BS in Physical Therapy. What a lame bunch of metallers, lol.

A certain guitarist who formed a band in Boston has a masters degree in mechanical engineering from MIT, and early in his carrer worked for Polaroid as a senior product design engineer.

Its amazing that there are a number of rock & metal musicians who got their start with a technical/computer background. :)

Who said geeks can't rock? :headbang:
