BW&BK spoke to SAMMY HAGAR before a smokin party of a WABOS show yesterday at Casino Rama (north of Toronto), and got a little more out of the Red Rocker on his recently touched upon new musical project
Well, JOE SATRIANI (guitar), Chad Smith (drums) from the CHILI PEPPERS, and Michael Anthony (ex-VAN HALEN bassist) and myself, we got together for a weekend and it was extremely prolific. You know, eight songs came out of it. Joe and I got together one day before and kind of came up with a few ideas, and it was just so good that we were saying, Geez, we better kind of make a record. So I built a brand-new studio otherwise we would already have it done, and its just getting done, so I think were going to try get together in August and see if we can make a CD. I dont know, I mean its crazy in this day and age to think about even making a whole CD, to me, but I think we can do it. Its just so good; I cant believe it. Its like a cross between Van Halen and LED ZEPPELIN, and a little bit of a funkier thing, because Chads drumming he so funky. Its pretty interesting that the combination you know, its like chemistry. You can put the best players in the world together and you think its going to be great and you go, Geez, this isnt great at all, or its better than you thought. And this is better than we even thought.
