2. A Winter's Dream- Simply Sublime!
3. Candlelight Fantasia- A Deeply personal song for me.
4. The Accolade- OUTSTANDING!
5. The Divine Wings Of Tragedy- GASP!
6. Pharoah- I love Russ' vocals on this one!
7. Sonata/In The Dragon's Den- Totally fucking brilliant!
8. Tie~ Sea Of Lies + Lady Of the Snow- Sheer beauty and bliss!
9. Tie~ Dressed To Kill + The Haunting- The middle section to the former song is simply spectacular!
10. Absence Of Light- Russell's cathartic coda is hypnotizing!

Sins And Shadows (some of the best guitar playing ever)

Communion And The Oracle (such a lush and rich soundscape)

The Relic (ultimate neoclassical song, Yngwie keep eating meatballs)

On The Breath Of Poseidon (the layering of the electric and acoustic guitars just sounds so full and amazing)

The Divine Wings Of Tradgedy (the quintessential extremely dark prog metal epic, what the fuck is this Change Of Seasons shit anyway? lol)

Candlelight Fantasia (aside from being a very moving tune in the vein of Queen's "Who Wants To Live Forever", I could see the band shooting for a DVD with a full orchestra and playing this tune)

Egypt (those new Mummy movies might not have sucked so much if they'd used this...lol)

Evolution (The opening riff is easily some of MJR's most ominous stuff ever)

A Fool's Paradise (the first tune I ever heard, and that changed everything)

The Accolade (imo the best Symphony X tune written. Also is Russ's tune about/for Medieval Times so I hear)

2. Egypt (I especially love Lepond's crazy bass during the guitar solo)
3. Divine Wings Of Tragedy (The last part sung by Russell is pure bliss... live version is superior)
4. Communion And The Oracle (sophistication... live version is superior)
5. Orion (dark and heavy... SICK keyboard solo)
6. The Accolade (beautiful and powerful...)
7. Through The Looking Glass (another beautiful epic)
8. Lady Of The Snow (One of Russ's finest performances)

Symphony X writes so many great songs. Here are my favorites.


Orion the Hunter - I love the lyrics and I love the part where the guitar is riffing over the keyboard part after the solo for like a minute. Romeo locks on a groove and rides it!

Egypt - The solo section is superb! I love how after the solo they go into that heavy riff. The chorus is awesome as well!

Eyes of Medusa - So heavy! I love the way the keyboard floats above the guitar riff at the beginning (does that make sense?). Also also love that loud harmonic after the solo section.

Through the Looking Glass - About 4 minutes into the song they have a part with slow powerchords with the piano arpeggios, it sounds really beautiful and mystical. The chorus is great as well.

The Breath of Posedion - Short, but beautiful!

Divine Wings of Tragedy - Long, but never boring! This song has so many good parts. I love what is going on when Russell sings the last part after the 7(?) minute long instrumental onslaught! Also the part where the bass and guitar have the duel is great.

Accolade - That chorus, jeez!

Lady of Snow - "There is no escaping, the feeling I can't fight anymooooooooooooooooooooooooore!"

Candlelight Fantasia - The lyrics are so good!

Smoke and Mirrors - The solo section is unreal! I love how Mike P. just rips into the solo. Those are probably my favorite Romeo solos as well.

its really hard to choose actually, some are more solid that others, theres a few songs id trade for others at times, but as a whole i pretty much like all of their songs. The only songs I actually dont like very much (not counting the stuff from their first album) is Pharoh, Egypt, Sea of Lies, and Witching Hour.
