What do you think of Last FM?

I use it for scrobbling and discussing music/arguing with idiots about music...i could probably live without it but it's reliable for info (tour dates etc) so i'd say it's worth it.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that the recommendation system is good...it can be a bit hit and miss (recommends stuff you already know that you haven't scrobbled yet) but i've found my share of good bands through it.
If you ignore some true abominations like the Burzum shoutbox, it's an excellent site. The recommendation feature is probably the most useful aspect of the site.

I think it's pretty essential. it recommends bands and shows bands that are related to ones you listen to (and ranks how similar they are). The tagging lets you look for bands in similar areas. There's also good free tracks and tons of other goodies

Yes, it helps you get to know hot boys if they post their real photos on avatars. That's why I use last.fm.

On Topic: I find the music player app for the iphone the only real reason for the site; if you scour the internet for bands to listen to then you'll find new bands just as easily without lastfm.
