what do you think of this idea

Nice idea. Good luck, I stopped doing my zine basically because I couldn't deal with printers anymore, bunch of morons taking decisions when they are not supposed to and sitting idle when they should move.

No offense to people working at printers, I maybe dealt with crappy ones...

plan is to first start as a bi-monthly zine that would be in addition to the site. featuring reviews (music, DVD, books), interviews and such... mostly from the site. but we would bring back the editorials just for the zine.

then see where it goes.

(and we would print it ourselves... we have our ways...

color cover and all)

what about...

indieworkshop- the radio program?

i was thinking about trying to wedge my way into local radio station kdhx. talked with the music director of the station for a while about music and all sorts of stuff when i worked the phones, and he mentioned they take auditions for shows all the time. not sure i'd make it totally associated with iw, but the content of said radio program would probably end up being similar to the content on the site. of course if i even got a show, it'd probably end up being 3am because i have no seniority there. but i heard some of the djs on that station and - meh, i could do that. the wnur experience is a big plus i think.

maybe indieairshop? what do you think jakester?

oh, and the print zine: sounds good. i just remember a friend doing a zine called the seventh scroll (or something) and sinking a lot of money into it to do it the way he wanted. he had great content (all metal-based), with good in-depth interviews/reviews (he had amazing contacts), but it was a drag spending the $$ for it himself. although he didn't have a huge website with additional writers to springboard from.

hey, then maybe you can e-mail bands and tell them that they'd have a guaranteed review in the magazine if they buy some ad space, totally hinting that if they don't buy ad space, they won't get a review. PS. this is after they've already spend $10 on a promo for you guyz.

will do. they broadcast over interdoof too so it'd be global-like.
although if we really wanted, we could probably set up our own indieworkshop radio station to stream 24-7 i guess. but without dj personalities, it'd be more like a jukebox, which most everybody has these days

and i did nothing of the sort with kayo dot (or any other band)... just to clear the air
