Ok,

first of all, this thread is not to start a flame war, it’s created purely for entertainment purposes. I started following Blabbermouth on Twitter and it’s basically a mouthful of shit and embarrasement to metal. It’s a source of so much crap that I decided to make a thread for a really shitty metal songs and albums.

Not only bad, but those that are laughable. Now I know that this year was very productive in this sense, we had Illud and Lulu - both fucking horrible and utter mis-steps.

Today I watched a new Nightwish video. It’s everything metal should not be IMO. It’s childish, aimed at children, popularity, big production, pop-ish and dumb:

And, yeah, what Metallica does now with Lou Reed. Poor old man. I like his early works and out of the collab stuff, listen to his song on Gorillaz - Plastic Beach, it’s good and it fits there. But this, this is just plain awkward:

So yeah, this is NOT metal.

Discuss.

Regarding the Nightwish video, I agree. I don't know anything about that band or their audience but I'm not fond of when bands seemingly cater their stuff towards children. But personally, I find the majority of digital artwork to be childish-looking.

I have nothing bad to say about Lou Reed except for in that video he just sounds like some incoherent old guy. As for Metallica, I really don't care about them and never have. I'm generally not into thrash, and I cringe when I have to think about songs from the black album, or the extra syllables that James constantly adds to words.

You want crappy modern metal? I'll give it to you.

I mean this is basically a pop song with "harsh" vocals and heavy guitars and apparently this is what we're calling melodic death metal now. I have nothing wrong with women in metal but this whole pretty female vocalist gimmick thing that's been going on for a few years now is seriously getting old.

You can easily tell it's shit, when the band is "melodic something" and has three vocalists.

That was pretty damn cheesy. Don't know if I have much room to talk, though. I am a huge fan of Scar Symmetry, In Flames, and Soilwork.

As am I but stuff like that just pisses me off. It just seems like people will buy into anything that has melody, dreadlocks and is from Sweden.

Is Metal actually popular in Scandinavia, or is that just bullshit I've heard from every Metalhead I've met here resentful of the music on the radio?
