In any magazine as such, record sales have somewhat of a direct relationship with guitar "skill."
Ever notice how Kirk Hammett is always close to the top, when there's hundreds of guitarists in smaller bands who are more skilled and write better music who don't get anywhere on those lists? It's a shame, but that's how it works. Personally, I get tired of all the "top whatever" lists these magizines pump out on a regular basis. It's all subjective and no one is ever happy.

I hate these lists... the main problem with them seems to be that ppl don't judge the guitarist by themselves, they judge the band too. They even count guitarists in the same band as one person...... that's how fucking biased it is.
Personally, I like Neil Young. He's the slackest musician on the planet, but he's got lots of cool shit. And the other guitarist (I forget his name) is a MASTER of harmonics (well Young's great too at harmonics).
