This season I did a lot of catching up - and between what I bought myself (damn those sales!) and what family got me for Christmas - I think it's the most music I've ever gotten at one time. Scary!

A couple highlights:

Devin Townsend - Retinal Circus box set
Ayreon - The Theory of Everything limited edition earbook
Nightwish - Showtime, Storytime mailorder edition earbook

I didn't even know what an "earbook" was until these releases. I love the quality but they're pricey - I hate being a collector sometimes.

I'll have to compile the full list and post (some nice old school stuff like Cauldron).

What did you all get?

I don't celebrate Xmas. So basically all I've got recently it's on my own LOL.

I have to acknowledge Vicious Robbie got me Thin Lizzy - "Are You Ready?" DVD.

Lots of goodies indeed. I wanted that Ayreon 5 disc edition but was expensive for my needs.

Yeah I had to jump on it when it was on sale. Since they're one of my favs it was worth the investment for me - and the quality of the book is REALLY nice.

The only flaw is the center of the front spindles (inside cover) created indents/impressions on the first 10-15 pages of the book. Hopefully if they continue to put these out they add a layer of foam or some sort of protector on those spindles.

Thin Lizzy - Thunder & Lightning deluxe edition

What bonus material does that edition has?

Nice on the Alice Cooper, the Uriah Heep are the original pressings or the remastered with bonus tracks? Neat also the BOC boxset.

nice list. why did you get some enchanted evening though when its in the BOC boxset you got?

also that leslie west/mountain stuff is tops

Nice on the Ayreon! I gotta find a more comprehensive explanation of the stories start to finish, the official website doesn't help much.

And everything else, but Ayreon stuck out cuz dammit I still don't know the whole story.

The Heep are the '04 remasters. I'd not owned these Heep albums in any form previously.

The Thunder & Lightning edition includes six tracks from an '81 Hammersmith Odeon gig (with great sound quality) and then a "demo version" of the entire album. Not essential, but interesting to the Lizzy fanatic!

I picked up the Enchanted Evening before the box. In fact, it's greatness prompted me to splurge and buy the box! (I was a casual BOC fan, at best. Now, I love 'em!)

oh ok. i suggest getting the band 2 newest albums as well. heaven forbid and curse and the hidden mirror
