Just because some one sings about things you consider "weak" doesn't mean that they are lame. We are talking about the fucking Earth. Iced Fucking Earth. You won't admit it, but no human being is entirely hard hearted. So fucking play it off like you hate it while you ignorantly ingnore your humanity and call it "we'll be togerther in homosexual matrimony". Its not like they are Def Lepard or anything. Haven't you ever heard Pure Evil. As a nevermore and ie fan i'm sick of this comparison bullshit man. They are both good bands. I think nevermore is one of the heaviest bands in existence. I mean listen to POE. Thats in Eb Tuning and that album puts hair on my balls. Nevermore would never play something like stormrider or wolf, nor would the ie boys play tianemen man or this sacramant. Besides, I don't know if you play in a band but IE is damn good live and thats a feat initself.

Now first of all, i didn't compare IE to Nevermore. I never do, they have nothing to compare to each other, they play totally different styles of music. The only reference to nevermore that i made, was saying that WD was one of the few people that can write emotional lyrics without it coming across as sappy, and lame.
I really love Iced Earth's music, they are a damn cool band. And i love barlow's voice, why can't you goddamn listen to what i'm saying before you jump down my throat for fuck's sake? i LIKE iced earth, i just think their lyrics are plain dumb, and the songs that utilize the "well be together again" style lyrics are extremely weak, and almost radio songs, like Watching over me.

Everyone gives Iced Earth too hard of a fucking time around here. I don't know why, but you do. That song meant a lot to Jon, it was about his friend who died and hell, it doesn't really matter what the lyrics are, Barlow puts so much emotion into it that he could sell it singing "hahoujklnjhjkjlh;jl;j". Of course I don't know how he would pronounce that or the semicolons. And hell, what do you not get about emotion in Metal? Isn't that what Metal is about, emotion. Anger, depression, hatred, etc.......I always thought that that is what Metal is all about, emotion.
Yes, i respect that the song was about john's freind... but for god's sake, the dude got drunk and rode home on a motorbike, what a loser.
Maybe that's what metal is about to YOU, yes. But not to me. Not in any way whatsoever. Metal is about creating something, like a journey, crafting a path for the listener in terms of music, the lyrics, like Death's "Perennial Quest" or Nevermore's "The Learning", Intense musicianship at it's peak, the music tells the story, and the lyrics are a totally different faction, that should add to the music. It is about that, AND the relentless persuit of your dreams.
While Iced Earth's lyrics aren't up to par with Nevermore (not many bands' are), I can't believe you think they are horrible. When I think of horrible lyrics, I think of grindcore, black metal, pop, country, rap, etc. Those are horrible lyrics. Iced Earth are simply decent lyrics in above average metal, I can dig it.
Rap, Country, Pop... yes, but you only say that about Black Metal (uh, i don't even know what grindcore is?? Is that stuff like Napalm Death etc? I don't even listen to those bands... so *shrug*), because you don't listen to it, and the bands that you HAVE listened to would be the rediculously stupid one's like Mayhem. Actually jimbob, i think you'd like Dimmu Borgir's "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia", it's thrash, and there is some cool stuff in the lyrics here and there. You should check out the song "Kings of the carnival creation", you might/might not dig it. I love it, and i'm a self confessed hater of even the slightest tinge of blackmetal, corpspaint, or blast beats.
