I'm a 90s child. 70s and 80s are pretty cool to me, but a bit too primitive, and the 00s are kind of stagnant, with little to no innovation. so yeah, I stay with 90s.

Definetly 90's, but I certainly disagree with the "00s being stagnant," there is a lot of innovation, you ust have to look for the right bands...

...which are pretty close, just look at DT :p :headbang: :kickass: . Haven, Damage Done, Character and Fiction are/were all innovative :)

There is enough innovation in the 00's, if you know where to look. I like today's metal just fine..

I go with 90s. Tho 80s were pretty cool too and 00 is not bad.
70s, besides the obvious, wtf did 70s do to metal.

Another vote for the nineties. I know it has a lot to do with it being the time of my life I listened to metal the most, and also the time of my life when music as a whole seemed to mean the most for me. Still, comparatively few are the records that caught my attention after 2000.

I'll just go with the masses and say the 90s. I think it is really great how this poll reflects the variety of our opinions.

I dont have a particular favorite decade. There are stuff i like in each one.
But i would really have loved to see Metallica live back in the 80's or beginning of the 90's.

For the 70's, Led Zeppelinis not really Metal, but they rock!

My dad told me that when he was young, iwhenhe went out, they would play Led Zeppelin and stuff like that. Now discos only have horrible (c)rap/Hip-hop, very commercial pop,and techno :(

amen to that.

Yes, the 90's. Death/Black metal genres especially reached the height of their development and innovation during this time. 00's has some notable metal releases, but as far as I am concerned, the quality metal releases of the 90's overshadow them in both quality and quantity.

Gotta go with 90s. Early 90s was the heyday of American death metal. Mid-to-late 90s was the heyday of death metal coming from Sweden and black metal from Norway.

If you look at the sheer amount of quality music being made, I don't see how anyone can vote for a decade other than 90s. I'd like to hear from other people though about why they voted for the 80s or the 00s.

Ive chosen 00s, although there was plenty of great music made in the previous decades. I feel metal is steadily growing better and stronger, so by that rationale it must be at its best now. Stagnation is definitely not the word for 00s.

My vote goes to 00s. The 90s were amazing, they offered numerous amounts of new genres and sub-genres plus release after release of mind blowing stuff and it came close to winning my vote. However, when one dare to look behind the wall of crap that emerged in the early 00s, one will find a great number of experimental bands, all of them offering a very different view on metal and that's something that really got to me.

Besides, the 00s aren't over yet, still 2 years and a half to go.
