When did Cradle of Filth get big enough to headline over Type O Negative??

TD

HAS INTEGRITY
Granted, TON aren't exactly at their peak any longer, but I saw them in August and they filled the Newport to capacity (whereas our fave's Anthrax played to a crowd about a 1/3rd that size at another club in town a week later, I just throw that in for perspective) But it wasn't long ago TON were Roadrunners "premier" band and they do have 2 Gold albums from the late 90's - something hardly any other metal band was able to do. So when did Cradle of Filth become a big enough name to be the closer on a "co-headline" tour w/ TON? Am I that far out of it, or what? Also, let's end these co-headliners. It's an oxymoron, and I'm sick of every other show being a "co-headline."

i aint a fan of cof either but they sell a shitload of records, there records always go top 50 here in autralia and i suspect they sell pretty healthy overseas too, that along with a hectic touring schedule across the globe also puts them in a great position, they have been marketed very well, for years they always seem to get the cover on magazines yet they havent had any backlash for being a popular bm band.

Look at it this way Ty, you get to go see Type O AND you get to call it an early night. How great is that?
That is probably what I will do, I will check out a few CoF songs and see if I dig it and then head home. They are appearing at the Newport on November 17th, which is like a Monday or Tuesday, so getting home early is a bona fide plus.

Hahaha, very true, Cradle of Shit are like one of the hottest things for all lame 14 year old girls who are tired of Avril and Limp Dipshit. Cradle are pretty big at the moment over here. Type O were big in 1993-1995.

Yeah, COF is a band for girl teenies! They hit it in all girly magazines in here! Anyway, I've seen their live DVD and was quite amazed actually. I went to TON show...and thought they sucked. CoF are far far better musicians.

it's amazing how no matter how great an album is and how teenie bopper friendly a band makes thier albums they still can't catch a break. TONs new album was so much more catchier and didn't have as many of those signature "slow motion metal" parts that they usually do. It's a great album and I thought it would be just right for the kiddies. especially "I don't Wanna be Me" that was a rockin song and has a awesome funny video.

its really hard to talk about how they do in sales because of the simple fact that different continents have differnt hot musics. like here in the states, i really REALLY doubt you could call cradle of filth huge but in europe they are monster, i have never seen them on the charts here in the states, but ive never been a close follower of the charts either.
