Whitesnake's Purple Surprise in May

I think this will be enjoyable, but honestly..... This should be a bonus disc with a new studio album, and not the new release they are touring to support.

Usually, I give a big wide miss to rerecordings of older albums and songs, but I have to admit that that recording of Stormbringer blew me away. It might be the same song and the same singer that did the song in Deep Purple, but it really sounds like a Whitesnake song and not a Deep Purple song. The dual guitars and lack of keyboards really give it a high energy, aggressive feel to it. I can't wait to hear the rest of it.

I'm also really looking forward to this tour (already bought my ticket). Although they have done Burn and Stormbringer on tour before, they haven't done them when I've seen them. So, as a huge Deep Purple fan I can't wait to hear these songs live.

I am hoping that David Coverdale's vocals hold out. I've seen them twice in the last decade or so. The first time the vocals were terrible. Last time they were excellent. So, who knows. I bought my ticket and I'll hope for the best.

Damn, it is too band that David could not convince Ritchie to me part of this.:( I would have gone to Australia for that! I definitely will to catch a show anyway.;)

A good EPK on the upcoming album. Also glad to hear Ritchie maybe finally deciding to rock again, even if its not with David Coverdale.

too funny how many of these my wife says "didn;t Jorn do this before?" LOL

I'm glad I saw this thread. I listened to the Whitesnake remakes and loved them. But then I realized I didn't own the original David Coverdale era Deep Purple disks these songs came from. I'm still a long ways from having all of DP's disks and I'm an Ian Gillan fan so I always focused on the albums he is on. So I listened to Burn and Stormbringer on Spotify and loved them both. I ordered them both on CD and they should be arriving any day now. After I have digested the originals, I may seek out the Whitesnake remakes, but for now I wanted to say thanks for inadvertently turning me on to the originals that I had overlooked.
