Who else is obsessed with the new Immolation album?

Ugh, comparisons with Decrepit Birth are not very heart-warming for me, but I guess I'll have to check it out.
Die-hard fans will drool over everything they release regardless of quality. They're the Summoning and Burzum of death metal.

Yeah, I tend to enjoy things that I don't consider quality.

...and for the record, Burzum's ambient albums blow (for the most part) and Summoning's latest album is pretty mediocre.

Unholy Cult is pretty good , I guess, but I can't stand how they produce their albums. Everything is spliced together and thrown into your face.Little room for subtlety there. UC is probably their most evocative album, for me at least.
Stronghold is Summoning's best, imo.

Stronghold is probably my third favorite release by them next to Nightshade Forests and Dol Guldur.

As for Immolation, the only album I was dissatisfied with was Harnessing Ruin because of the poor production and the fact that it sounded a little uninspired. I haven't heard the new one, though.

Dol Guldur is too bass-heavy and artificially drawn out for me.The vocals are too over-the-top.

Stronghold is their most blatantly rockish album with much shorter songs,so it appeals to me more. Though the last track is just horrible, in my opinion.

I hardly ever listen to either band anyway.

actually nearly every die hard immolation fan disliked harnessing ruin

anyway i haven't even heard new burzum or nokturnal mortum yet and i'm way way way more excited about those, so not me

The new Nokturnal Mortum is alright for what it is but it does stray a little far into the overtly-folky realm, something I'm not a huge fan of.

Summoning are ultimately too plodding.
I've come to the realization that I dislike when a band doesn't change the pacing of their material throughout the song. Or when everything is buried in bass. God,. I dislike overstated bass so so much. But you all know that already.

Yet to hear it, I'm hoping it's up there with some of their older works. I too was hoping for a better comparison than Decrepit Birth, whom which I find immensely boring to listen to. Not a fan of tech death metal in that vein.

p.s Nokturnal Mortum's new one is awesome :D

Yeah the new Immolation slays! I rediscovered the band with this album as I only have heard two of the older ones before and it was a long time, until now, that I sat down and listened to them. Great band for sure.

I quite like the production at least most of it no counting the drums that still has that Immolation sound to them that Im not a big fan of.
