Who had the all-time best run? The key here isn't to pick the best apex or jewel in the crown, but who's run was the least disappointing overall? Who always could deliver the goods and never let you down?

I can proudly say: Symphony X:headbang:

*(Btw, I know "Tribute" isn't a studio album, but it's a very worthy TRIBUTE- so shut up).

good poll.

I'm not a huge Empire fan, otherwise I'd pick QR. And I'm not a big NOTB fan, either. So I'll go with Sym X.
Agreed. And I'd also add 2112 to the list of weak links in the belt; otherwise Rush would've definitely been my choice. Never been a big NOTB fan.

Tough poll. Hard for me to choose between Metallica, Led Zeppelin and Van Halen's strings of albums, but Master of Puppets was the height of my metal youth, so Metallica gets the vote.
Iron Maiden: Iron Maiden - Powerslave would be tough to beat.
What about
Motley Crue: Too Fast for Love - Dr. Feelgood
Judas Priest: Stained Class - Screaming for Vengeance

I would say

Judas Priest: Rocka Rolla - Defenders Of The Faith (POE was a slight glitch in there but still good)

Maiden put out excellent albums up until No Prayer For The Dying

Slayer: Show No Mercy - Diabolous In Musica (I don't care what anyone says all those albums are top notch. GHUA is a bit of a let down)

Accept: Breaker - Russian Roulette

Black Sabbath: S/T - Never Say Die (I love the entire Ozzy period)

Rush: Fly By Night - Power Windows

I can also think of several bands that have NEVER put out a stinker:

Voivod
Opeth
Death
Emperor
Cradle Of Filth

But it's all about opinion anyways, right? :)

Either Sab or Zep.

I'd also add Beatles (Revolver - Abbey Road) and Floyd (Meddle - Animals)
Zeps first 6 records remain untouchable!
They revolutionized rock, IMO.

Sab's first 6 are great, as well, but simply not up to Zep's level.

Deep Purple, from 1970s "In Rock" through 1973s "Burn", released 5 incredible albums in a row, but one was a live record - the best live record ever (Made in Japan).

I voted for Metallica altho Maiden's great as well but these deserved to be in the list:
Dire Straits(self titled) - Brothers in Arms
Queen I - News of The World
Peace Sells - Criptic Writings
And of course all Bon Scott era albuns till Back in Black
