Who uses docking stations??

My two main concerns: Pulling off the dock and disconnecting the Profire and the external hard drive on the fly.

any work-arounds/user experienece here? The Profire doesn't appear in the "safely remove hardware" dialogue and i typically need to reboot after reconnecting to get it to sync again. the EHD is powered separately, so i'm not suddenly cutting its power when i un-dock. i'm just concerned about it getting some corrupt sectors...that's some sensitive ish on there. fwiw, it's a LaCie 500gig in a big black box. Looks like it's desktop sized.

i'm very excited about the idea of printing stems and then running out to my car, and back and forth to inside while doing stems-masters-ish like that.

I have my harddrive connected first, then the profire. Works like a charm. But I'm using mac.

so you'll have both running and will yank off the dock on the fly (no that's what she said jokes, plz) and no negative consequences?

well, I have to unmount the harddrive, otherwise I might get some consequences. With profire I have to quit and reopen the profire software and it's ready to rock again, no need for restarts. I'm using the Profire 610 and iomega 500gb hardrive, both are buspowered.
