Who would you compare this to?

Digging the tune and I don't who I can really compare this to.
Maybe whoever recorded Sworn In's ep specifically "The Deviant" http://www.facebook.com/swornin/app_178091127385
I think it was this guy http://www.facebook.com/jtwrecording/app_178091127385.

Thing is you have a lot of frequencies fighting making things muddy.
I'm in no way trying to discourage you but I think it has potential but things need to be cut out lowered and fixed to make a cleaner sounding mix.
At times the sub is too over powering and then the vocals get drowned out in guitars when we should be able to hear them and there's this weird click in the right channel, maybe a hi hat, anyways its distracting.

I'm sorry if I pissed on your mix I'm only giving some pointers in my opinion so don't take it to heart. :D

No absolutely this is why I post on here!
I should probably turn down the sub drops too but the band doesn't complain haha.

It sounds too focused on the low end, like you've pushed the bass up on every single instrument. And yeah them bass drops are way too loud, really annoying to listen to kinda feels like I'm on a plane taking off haha.

Low end is what I struggle with the most, definitely.
I have all my instruments hi-passed. The guitars are HP'd at 200hz.
Same goes for synths some of them are HP'd all the way up to like 600hz.
I always throw a Modern Exciter on the bass guitar and the unblended (non SSD4) drum track.

But when I compare this mix directly to a Joey Sturgis mix (I See Stars' new album to be exact) I can clearly and immediately tell his mix is MORE focused on lower frequencies, as I have a much crispier hi end which I really like.

edit: Nevermind about the crispiness of Joey's mix... I was listening on YouTube -_-

The crispiness is pretty comparable to me.

You got any multiband compression going on? Any ways I recently started watching ahjteam's videos and this may help you I know it helped me understand how to tame those frequency's. As he says you listen with your ears not your eyes. Find the sweet spot for each instrument. Oh and I forgot to ask are you panning your instruments? Bass heavy instruments stay in the Center while other pieces of the drum kit/synths/guitars can be panned. I think the video also explains this.

Don't know what to compare this to. The music sounds very interesting but the mix is all over the place. Synths are loud and bass is low and the bass booms are way too loud... they are clipping a lot. :) I'd add mids to the guitars.

I haven't messed around with multiband compression.
This mix definitely deserves some more time :Spin:

Thank you SO much sir!
If it weren't for all you guys I would definitely not be as good of a mix engineer :D
