Umm... Hopefully you're not serious. What you just did amounts to walking into a church and yelling "FUCK YOUR GOD!" as loud as you can... (I never said I did that, of course... or maybe I did, I'll let you decide.) :heh: :muahaha:

They're like every other "marketed" musician(s) - a team designs them for the masses. I'm not saying their music is utter crap, but it's definately not on any of my hit lists. Their music finds a way to all the major market radio stations - it's the only way to get big. Then - the videos on TV.

I just wish sombody would come forth with a ton of dough for bands like Nevermore - so money wouldn't get in their way. I believe their following would be much greater if more people just had a chance to listen to them.

Yes, I was being serious :D Just because they are popular doesnt automatically mean they suck.......

I never said they suck. That's like a KoRn fan saying Nevermore sucks... It's not true, it's only an opinion. KoRn really doesn't "Suck," they just really aren't that talented in most Metal Fans' opinions. Same for good 'ol Creed, I personally don't like them because of their following, but also because of their religious influences, and the fact that their guitar and vocals don't appeal to me. I'll let all of you in on a secret: I kinda did like "My Own Prison" until they played it 150,000 times a week.

:D I KNEW you were a closet Creed fan ;)

Well, here in Australia, Creed doesnt get played much on the radio, lately thats begun to change a bit, but none of the my own prison stuff got played, and higher only started getting played about 6 months ago, so I havent had the chance to become as sick of it as America, where apparently they are on all the radio stations all the time?

I also like 3 doors down, what are yas gonna do?? :D

:spin:

I'll let you off the hook, I have an affinty for The Offspring (before Americana; Ixnay on the Hombre and the earlier ones were very good...) ;)

Actually I dont mind offspring either, I even like the stuff after americana ;) (They arent really a favourite band of mine, but I like em!)

Metalized: Download the mp3s of Ode, Torn, Unforgiven, Say I and What If of Creed, that will give you some idea if you really havent heard of them!

Download "Bullets" from their new album, 'Weathered'. Awesome song!

I only got into them last week because I thought all their stuff would be like "Higher" and "With Arms Wide Open", but young Spawny here made me see the light.

I like "Smash" and "Americana" from the Offspring. I haven't heard much Creed, but I haven't liked what I've heard. I also like Soundgarden "Superunknown" and Alice In Chains "Dirt" so I must be a poser

Then strike a pose with me Jimbo! :D

Spiff! Good to see you here :D I think you will enjoy my latest journal entry

Yes, bullets does indeed kick much arse. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM heavy. I actually didnt really like it all that much at first, but love it now. Wierd.

In my opinion, Creed are a decent band, but Scott Stapp is an ego-maniac. Metal Edge magazine was the first to have a cover story on Creed, But Scott Stapp Denied this to Rolling Stone magazine according to Metal Edge editor Paul Gargano. Also, Creed is "formula" rock. When My Own Prison came out it sounded like bands that had already been heard such as Pearl Jam, Days Of The New (both utter crap to me,) and a little Stone Temple Pilots and vaguely Alice In Chains. Creed write "simple, catchy" songs and simple sells. The majority of people like simple somgs with a catchy chorus. This is why NEVERMORE, TESTAMENT, SLAYER, DREAM THEATER, SPIRAL ARCHITECT, ETC...will only appeal to die hard fans because their music is complex and will not appeal to the "majority". Most of the crap that is radio friendly usually is simple and has a catchy chorus. Creed's not my cup of tea, but there good at what they do.

NOW PLAYING: STATIC X/WISCONSIN DEATH TRIP

It could be worse, he could be Fred Durst :D

NEVERMORE, TESTAMENT, SLAYER, DREAM THEATER, All those bands you mentioned are fantastic (never heard spiral architects stuff though.....) but you have to remember most people arent like die hard fans like us, in that they dont have the time or inclination to sit down and REALLY listen to a band, they just put the radio on on the way to work or whatever! Like you said, Creed write catchy songs and it doesnt matter if they are derivative or not, only that they are good at what they do! :D
