Fight Network's Fight + Music conducted an interview with SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor before the band's November 30 concert in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. You can now watch the chat below.Asked why SLIPKNOT has nine members, Taylor responded: "It just took that many people to get the noise out of our head. I mean, for us, we wanted to create something that was different, and it was one of those things where we just kept adding members, basically. 'Cause when I joined, it was only eight. And once we kind of got to the point where we were just missing that one thing, we were able to kind of really realize everything that we wanted to do, musically. We're one of those bands that we strive so hard to be able to project everything that we do on the album live, and it just took that many members to make that a reality."A disgruntled former drumtech for SLIPKNOT recently revealed the identity of the band's newest members by posting a picture of a backstage call sheet on Instagram. The sheet, posted by Norm Costa, shows the names Jay Weinberg, their new drummer and Alessandro Venturella, the bassist. While the sheet doesn't point out who is who, Venturella's identity was pretty much revealed on accident in SLIPKNOT's music video for "The Devil In I", where Venturella's hand tattoos were visible. Taylor admitted he was unhappy when distinctive tattoos on Venturella's hand identified him as SLIPKNOT's new bassist. At the time, Corey said, "I was, like, 'Why didn't we make him wear gloves?' I was so upset. I was, like, we thought of all this stuff. We put the hood on him and then the mask... And then there is his tattoos for everybody [to see]. I was, like, 'Well, we missed the mark on that one.'"SLIPKNOT's first major headlining tour in support of ".5: The Gray Chapter", dubbed "Prepare For Hell", also featured KORN and KING 810.The trek kicked off on October 29 in El Paso, Texas and wrapped up on December 7 in Boston.
