If I have the story staight, he hit a pole. Of course that doesn't mean he didn't roll it as well. I will know more this weekend when we go through what is left of the thing. And yeah, he had his belt on. Apparently it took them an hour to cut him out of the car.
There were some girls I went to school with that were in a bad accident one night. There were 5 of them in a car going to someones house to sleep over. On this partiular road in the winter, the county would dump sand down to dissolve the ice. This road is extremely twisty, which is fun during certain times of the year, but very dangerous in the winter. What happened was in the middle of one of these turns there is a bridge that spans a narrow, shallow creek. I think you can tell where I am going with this, but as they made the turn at a relativly safe speed, they lost control and ended up going nose first into the creekbed. Luckily it was pretty much dry, but the inuries were bad. The two girls in the front had their seatbelts on, and ended up with a mixture of head injuries and broken bones. The three that were in the back got the worst of it. The girl in the middle threw her ams up over her face as they left the road, and when the car impacted, the force of her head going foreward broke her arms and I think her wrist. She also broke one, possibly both legs. The other two ended up with other various broken bones, and I think one ended up going over the top of the seat joining the other two that were already there. I got to hear that tale one night from all of them, and it was very weird as the general feeling of room changed real quick. Then someone pulled out a Oiuji board and it got even more weird, but thats another story for another time........
