M&C world.

southern-rock themed, too. thin lizzy soundtrack commercials, etc.

kind of like early taco bell, with one main dish and that's about it. no accoutrements or whatnot. served in a small red checkerboard bowl, and there's a spicy variety, too. $1.59 a visit + a drink (contract w/ china cola, although i'm not sure how well that'd go over with the actual southern folk - i DO think there's a slight chance it could catch on down there and create a new urban mythos - not exactly hip, one would hope, but among the casual breather)

oh goodness. and then the bowl could be edible! sort of tortilla, but maybe that's too southwest. it has to be checkerboard, whatever it's made of.

there hasn't been a good nonsensical marketing character in a while, you know, along the lines of GRIMACE or BIG MIX or jesus christ, a peanut with a monocle. america loves this, and M&C world will bring the CHEESE NUT to life.

they totally had this in my middle school cafeteria, and it DID come in an edible tortilla bowl. although it was flour tortilla. There was: shell, scoop of ground beef (sloppy joe with added taco seasoning packet), scoop of refried beans, scoop of bland radioactive yellow/orange nacho cheese, lettuce (wtg?), and maybe a scoop of canned tomato product of some sort. bowl was gingerly placed on a styrofoam tray that had no actual receptacle that would fit said bowl- those ones with like 5 sections, including one big one (for "main course"), a milk section (square, with a little circle for optional round beverage), and like 3 side dishes. note that the "scoop" formations all stayed scoop formations, except the cheese. most kids would instantaneously crush the bowl and innards and mix it all into a massive gloppy heap of milky orange brown red. i recall some days it being more greasy than others (which could likely be termed the Bottom Of The Meat Tray Days).

then all kids would either go play basketball and/or kick the can outside until someone vomited said milky orange brown red mixture, compare/contrast tennis shoes, snort crackers and/or dry koolaid, or watch girls throw things at boys (sometimes rocks (6th grade), sometimes themselves (7th-8th grade)). on rainy days, we weren't allowed to go outside and were relegated to the gymatorium to sit and bloat.

not sure how this would pan out if marketed to the actual public, but i'd be willing to help with the commercials. pic of chupe saying "M&C WORKED FOR ME!" with "Who Farted?" shirt on available upon request.
and that music choice is DEAD ON. more AC/DC than thin lizzy in my time, but DEAD ON. and the checkerboard pattern tortilla (flour, because corn is indeed too southwestern) would totally reign in the NASCAR crowd, and doubtless be an instant hit with the southern folk, china cola or not.
