Wierd Q about my TV and my interface...

I got a new TV for xmas (yay!) and it has an optical output for audio, it seems to be a regular ADAT/TOSlink connector. My question is if I get a long enough ADAT/TOSlink cable and hook it to my interface will I be able to get the audio from the TV into my monitors? I'm tempted to just get a cable and try it but I wanted to see if anyone here knew before I did that.

well, it is more meant for stuff like consumer home theater amplifiers, but you can always try.

ps: the maximum length for F05 cable is 10m (~30ft)
