Hey guys Im new to this forum and I just recently got into Symhpony X and love them. There are also people I know in Australia that love them and from my understanding I realise that Symhpony X have never been out here.

So will there ever be a tour here, do the band members come on the forum at all?Sorry if this has already been discussed but as I said I am new.

I'm with Eternal Dragon..

hey cro4eva! nice to see a fellow aussie on the board, you know I asked this exact same question when I first came here, the answer then was 'no' and the answer now hasnt changed. Apparently its not up to the band as much as them just not being well known enough to be able to book out entertainment venues here yet. It would be far too costly at this point, and therefore just not worthwhile.

luckily for us, bands like opeth, edguy, children of bodom and arch enemy have a large enough fanbase now to warrant their touring, lets hope one day SyX will find this too.

I sure hope so. I would just love to witness the greatness that is Symhpony X live. I want to see if they play there songs note for note live lol. If I get rich Ill bring them out.

well forgive me if i am mistaken, but I'm pretty sure you can get some clips of some of their concerts on their site, and do you have their live cd 'live on the edge of forever'? They pretty much do play everything the same with the exception of orchestrational parts etc which arent possible to recreate live in a 5-man-band. Unfortunately that is the best we Aussies get to hear of them live right now.

I wish they would come to st. louis. I have to travel all the way to chicago to see anyone worth a damn.
Theres always PoPs, the local grunge club , though seven deaths have occured there in the last year, 2 of which happened when I went to see Meshuggah.

If SyX came to Oz, I would come from NZ to see them, oh well, atleast Opeth is coming to our country, the first decent band in about 10 years which was probably Slayers Diabolis tour which I missed.

I'm all for SyX coming to Australia!
Add me to the list. I'll jump on to celebrityaccess.com tomorrow at my other work and find out what their tour contract details are. If a promoter or venue can turn a profit with 1500 heads per show @ AU$50-60 per ticket, there's no reason why we couldn't book them for an east coast run.

I don't know about other Australian fans but I'd be happy to pay AU$80-100 to see a solid set. Question is, are there 5000 S.X. fans in the country? Probably not.

I know at least 5 but I don't know how many would go... I've introduced SyX to a few people as well :D One guy was all "I am going to go buy all their albums now"

ok, so if they manage to get to the east coast of aussieland, i'm crashing at someones place... dont care who or where.
dont know that there are too many fans in sleepy hollow (adelaide)... i'm the only one i know of, but that could change when i start uni in a couple of weeks and i have the opportunity to pollute everyones ears...

Ill pay the amount of money for those 5000 fans jsut so its worth there time to come out :D.

To the person that asked if I have Live on the Edge Forever I have not got it becuase everytime I have money I just buy there albums and havnt got the chance to get that yet.

Also I would be happy to pay 80 to 100 dollars for Symphony X but i dont think to many people will. AS long as its a long set I dont see a problem with it.

Travel costs compared with potential earnings make touring Australia not financially feasible for a band like SymX, sadly..people don't realize how expensive touring really is. Just a tour bus costs almost a grand a day, and that's not counting fuel (you think filling up your tank is pricey, try filling up a bus on a daily basis..), paying & housing the driver, paying the crew, and other expenses that add up quickly..and that's not even counting airfare expenses just to get them there (which, just for the band, no crew, would be close to $10K). Perhaps once they get a little bigger, or if their label support improves, then it could happen, but for now, it's just not possible.

That sucks :( I wonder how other bands get here then. Are Symphony X well known in America to earn good money?

They're more known than before Gigantour. They got a lot of exposure from that tour. Don't give up hope. A band as good as Symphony X can only become more popular. I don't think they have made a lot of money yet, as their tour gigs have been smaller clubs, for the most part. But IMO, it's coming, and well deserved.
