I heard a small amount of this a while back and was not impressed. That's quite sad considering I like their previous releases and this one even has Swano on one song if I'm not mistaken.

Perhaps I didn't hear the right song. I should give it another shot.

I'm a fanboy of this style of music. Winds and Age of Silence are the absolute tits. BTW those are Norwegian tits. Not yellow, flat, coca-cola excreting chink tits.

Arcturus, Winds, Solefald, and Age of Silence all fit under the Avant-Garde 21st century skyscraper metal genre. Borknagar, not so much.

Yes, the new one is VERY good. Dark and progressive.

Agreed. However, there are aspects of In Vain which sound reminiscent of Empiricism-era Borknagar so I threw it into the description mix.

Heard their new track off their myspace. Nothing new there, pretty dry too IMO. I've always felt frustrated they have never really managed to give a proper follow up to their excellent first EP. It's still good music at the worst of times, but meh all the same.

In Vain or Winds? The new In Vain is the only In Vain I've ever heard so I can't really compare (and so neither feel burned out by them).

As you can tell, love the new Winds. Loved the first Age of Silence album, too, which was my pick for best album of 2004. Ordered the Winds a long time ago, but DHL lost it and it hasn't shown up yet despite my various emails to The End.
