Has anyone listened to this? I bought the two discs set a couple of weeks ago. Of course, you have to be a fan of theirs to begin with, but if you are, it's a fun listen. The music doesn't sound striped back to me, but it does sound less "slick". With that in mind, the music has more "balls" to it. I dare say, that some of the tracks sound out right "heavy". If you're a fan and haven't checked this out, then give it a whirl...it's great!

I am a particular fan of this disc.... it blows their polished releases out of the water IMO. I have yet to hear a song on these two discs, that I prefer from their studio releases. There is a heavier edge to the tunes, which certainly doesn't hurt their "street cred". :)

Oh, and if you are reading this thread..... and only know Winger from cuts like Madalaine, Seventeen, and Headed for a Heartbreak..... you are missing out. They are an incredibly solid melodic hard rock band.

Madalaine is my all time favorite cut from them though. The other two songs I can do without, but I do agree with your overall statement.

I finally found a copy of PULL on cd - for $4!! What a highly underrated disc - great great stuff......I'll have to check out this Demo Anthology disc.

"Pull" is phenomenal. I almost *never* put their first two CDs on, but even now, "Pull" gets a pretty regular spin. Killer stuff, especially for $4.

Have you heard their latest, "IV"? I've been meaning to buy it, but wondered how it compared to "Pull". The reviews I've read are encouraging...

I haven't heard their new one either. I've read mixed reviews about it, so I've strayed away from it. I hate it when 80's bands "experiment". Either come out with something that sounds like the 80's or don't bother! I'm not interested in the 80's bands sounding like Daughtry or Nickle Back.

The new Winger is extremely good. In my opinion it picks up right where Pull left off. I also do not like when a band strays from it's norms. (Dokken's Shadowlife and Warrant's Ultraphobic come to mind as the worst) The new Winger is not as experimental as some might describe it and definitely not as bad as the 2 I mentioned. It's Definitely Winger....

First of all, it's nice to see folks understand that this band is the real deal. Solid solid solid.

Second, IV is a really strong release IMO. It's not 80s sounding at all but it's strong on melody and strong on writing. Worth a check.
