Winter Storm Alien Landing

Yeah so I was watching my X-files DVDs last night and all the sudden blinding red and yellow light comes in from outside on both sides of the house. I was pretty freaked out. I went outside and took a quick video. Looks like a transformer blew up or something...or aliens. It went on for about 5 minutes and would go off an on. When it went off once our power went out too. It was pretty intense.

I tend to agree, that looks like a transformer (the electrical kind - not that robot kind) blowing up. Pretty awesome if you ask me

When I was a kid, a transformer blew up about 2 miles from out house. It started a fire in a metal warehouse. There was magnesium in that warehouse. It burned all night and was about half as bright as daylight 2 miles away.

Yep, that was almost certainly a transformer. It was also more than meets the eye.

Weird, when I've seen transformers blow, it's usually been a lurid GREEN fluctuating glow, so maybe yours WAS a Transformer (tm).

Yeah I did check with my neighbor and he did confirm that it was a transformer that blew up. The traffic light near there was out for a few days too.
