hello guys! i want to buy (tell a man to a store to make it (i mean custom) ) a cable for using it to record di's to my audio interface. witch is the best way?
trs --> trs
or
trs --> xlr
?

and how to explain to the man that have the store what is balanced and what is unbalanced? how to understand the differences? what i need balanced or unbalanced? thanks in advance!

It depends what inputs and outputs do you have. If you want to connect you DI box to the mic input of you interface, you will probably need XLR -> XLR ballanced line (with stereo cable).

In that case TS -> TS (mono cable). In other words - normal guitar cable. I hope you mean instrumental input (can be combined with the line input). Connecting your guitar to a line input won't give you very good results.

Guitar is not line level. I would never recommend connecting a guitar directly to an AD/DA converter's line level I/P. Buy a DI box which will convert your unbalanced (TS cable) into a balanced signal. From here you can send a balanced mic level to your converter's I/P's from your DI box. XLR and TRS are wired exactly the same (Pin 1: Shield, Pin 2 Hot and Pin 3 cold) so it doesn't matter which one you use! But typically XLR are used for mic level and TRS for Line but not limited to.
