NEARFEST PRESS RELEASE
October 14, 2004
WOBBLER TO PRECESS ONTO NEARFEST 2005 STAGE
Sometimes we receive music from a relatively unknown band that is so good, it leaves us no option but to offer the group a slot at NEARfest. From Hidria Spacefolk to Nexus to DFA to Alamaailman Vasarat, these unknowns have proven to be some of the biggest smash hits in festival history. We continue that tradition for NEARfest 2005 with the selection of Wobbler, an excellent new Norwegian sextet led by the sterling vintage keyboard playing and compositions of band leader Lars Fredrik Frøislie, along with the contributions of White Willow flautist Kjetil Einarsen. (Incidentally, Lars is also now a member of White Willow and partly responsible for the added aggressiveness of the excellent "Storm Season.") Wobbler has spent the last few years honing their sometimes dark but uplifting and energetic music influenced by symphonic prog greats, classical music, and Scandinavian folk, both in the studio and on stage. They are currently in the studio recording their debut CD, which will see release on The Laser's Edge label in 2005. The release of a CD will fulfull the band's first goal when they first came together. Wobbler will be fulfilling their second goal with their NEARfest 2005 appearance as the opening act on Saturday's slate.
Please listen to the band's two demo mp3s on the NEARfest website, and see if you agree with us that Wobbler will become one of the brightest lights in the symphonic prog genre in short order. We hope that their NEARfest 2005 appearance will help this excellent new band burst onto the world prog scene.
