hey guys, got my engl 120 here at home for a day
but no 4x12 ... would it hurt to hook up a 1x12 60w cab
and play at low volumes ???!?

No, the important thing here is impedance. Check to see what your cab's impedance is, and see if your amp accommodates that impedance. If it does, fine, but if it doesn't, you'll fuck up your transformer.
