Thats exactly what i saw at my local BofA branch today.

a transaction reciept slip, an approval to a doc with a phd, for an 11,800 credit line at 3.99 percent, complete with new account number, his social security number, and expiration date of the card for the account.

:OMG:
I had to get my business done and run out for a technician call, but i was walking around i thought fuck this something has got to be said, I was afraid to say anything initially becuase i thought they would have tried to say i was committing fraud by even peeking that hard.

But i went back to the bank, and talked to the manager and pointed out exactly what i saw calmly and politely. Someone else with a half a decent mind for number memory could have been more destructive.

Not surprising. All this talk about fraud, and these jerk-offs make it easy for the sly con-artists who look for this sort of thing.

That's why I BURN my shit. I burn everything! Credit card offers get my BBQ going every weeekend! Free kindling, muthafuckas!

Whenever there's a postage paid envelope, I mail all their shit back to them, with my info crossed out. Once, the assholes actually called me, saying "We got your application form and its all blackened out. Did you want to apply?" I said to them, "What do you think I am, a fuckin illiterate?" After that, I decided just to scrawl "FUCK OFF, FRAUDSTERS!" across the letter.

In the military your social security number is used almost daily as identification. I ALWAYS shit a brick on people when I saw mine just laying around. Like we had a workcenter roster lying around with everyones numbers. Now, we had a windowless cipher locked building, but I dont trust the guy next to me when it comes to identity theft.

In todays day and age you cannot let stuff like that lie around. Good call on calling it out!

I shred EVERYTHING. Even envelopes if it has my name and address on it.
Two guys I used to work with had their identities stolen. You would not believe the shit they had to go through to get their life back. For the one guy it took almost three years before his shit was all fixed.
My advice to all is get a shredder and use it.

Evil, I was in the air force i remember that. I didn't like it but that is what they choose to use
