Depends on if the Gibson had decent tuners or not...
Recorded one last summer... quad-tracking it was a total nightmare. The damn thing just refused to be tuned with any sort of precision. Went with a Schecter Hellraiser instead.
"fairly stable" isn't good enough for quad tracking, IMO.
It really depends on what you want to do.... single tracks, no problem.. maybe even double. If you're going quad, you might want to drop some Grover locking rotmatics in it & save yourself some grief.
I say this not to be a jerk, but from experience with that particular guitar.
if i were planning to keep it it would get grovers and emg's. and glen i dont think ur being a jerk at all ive visited this forum enough over the last couple years to kno u kno your stuff.
and yea i think im gonna pass and keep trying to sell it.
Tuning instabilities in Gibsons are much more due to bad nuts IME. I have the same tuners on my Melody Maker (Gibson Deluxe) and I have no plans on replacing them.
