WTB - REAMP BOX

Im interested in experimenting with reamping however theres acouple of different boxes out there. Like everyone else, I want the smoothest cleanest tightest brightest etc etc tone possible. Im on a budget but quality is worth my money.

Is there a difference between the passive and active boxes?
