Interestingly, a T driver came into the store on Monday with a shamrock tattoo on his hand, between his thumb and forefinger. Aryan Brotherhood! Since it's a "blood in, blood out" gang, I guess that means he killed a black guy. It was kind of scary.

i didn't see his teeth. and yes, I did indeed read that article. i'm well on my way to becoming a middle-class suburban person ("Oh my God, he had a prison tattoo! I know because I read it in the New Yorker!")

well i know what you were thinking during the first part, i mean, it was more of an etiquette thing that you were on the other side of the counter, i imagine.

i meant the article.

Curiously, he ordered a black-and-white frappe.

I thought the article was interesting--the thing that interested me most was that the article took the tone of "Wow, did you know the AB was so big?" but my thoughts the whole time were "Wow, I didn't know the AB hadn't always been ubiquitous/big!" Between watching OZ and reading prison articles I've heard a lot about them for much of my adult life, so I was surprised to read about their relatively-recent founding and expansion.

i've probably been exposed to the same amount of stuff you have (oz, etc), but for some reason after reading this article, which really wasn't all that great, i can't stop thinking about how i couldn't do a thing to stop any one of these guys from destroying me, if they chose to.
