I'm about 20 minutes directly east of Los Angeles (the city).
If you want to see some concerts in L.A., here's a website that list upcoming metal shows:
http://www.moshking.com/concerts.html

There's an Iron Maiden induction at Hollywood tomorrow, according to that site.

Hey Will - I think you have to be 21 to get into the Rainbow after 9pm. But if you get there early for dinner they let all ages in. Devore is the SoCal Ozzfest. It is at least an hour away, but it's the only place big enough for Ozzfest. You should totally go if you can. Tix are $35 for lawn. I wish i had extra tix for you. Here's the press release for Maiden at Rockwalk.

NEWS & PHOTO TIP SHEET FOR FRIDAY, AUGUST 19, 2005

HEAVY METAL ACT IRON MAIDEN TO BE INDUCTED INTO HOLLYWOOD'S ROCKWALK

WHO: Legendary heavy metal band Iron Maiden will be inducted into Guitar Center's Hollywood Rockwalk on Sunset Blvd. on August 19th at 7:30 p.m. Renowned for such groundbreaking albums in the 80's as the multi platinum "The Number of the Beast", "Piece of Mind" and "Powerslave", and more recently "Brave New World" and "Dance of Death", Iron Maiden were and remain one of the most influential and foremost bands of the heavy metal genre having sold over 65 Million albums worldwide to date, despite the fact that they are rarely heard on the radio.

It has always been on stage with their fans in front of them that Maiden, with outstanding musicianship and remarkable stage productions, has been most at home. Even after 12 remarkably successful World Tours over the last 25 years, the band's popularity still continues to grow. During this Summer's European Tour they performed to half a million people over 20 shows, topping the bill at a series of Europe's biggest Rock Festivals as well as their own headline Stadium shows including Gothenburg, Sweden, where all 55,000 tickets sold out in the space of two hours of going on sale some 8 months before the show day. This concert was also broadcast live on Prime Time TV across Scandinavia, the first live broadcast for any band there since Live Aid in 1985!

In the last few weeks, Maiden have been storming the USA appearing on this year’s
Ozzfest, receiving glowing reviews from all parts of the USA - "Iron Maiden is the stand out band of this tour" states the Hollywood Reporter, Chicago tribune says "Dickinson's soaring battle cries held the crowd spellbound" while in the Virginia Star, "Iron Maiden deserves every accolade thrown its way".

Once the band finish in the USA in Los Angeles on Aug 20 they will conclude the summer tour with headline appearances at the prestigious Reading and Leeds Festivals in the UK, performing to a sold out audiences of 120,000 over the two shows.

To close off this year the band will release "Death On The Road", a double live Album on August 30th in the USA through Sanctuary Records and also a spectacular Triple DVD of the same show shortly afterwards, filmed on their last album tour in 2003. Early in 2006 the band will start working on a new studio album which will see them back on the road later that year.

"Oh yeah, I owe you guys an explanation:
Iron Maiden were supposed to show up at 7:00 pm. They didn't. Whoever the fuck was hosting the event (likely Guitar Center), started jerking Iron Maiden fans around. They had a local radio DJ (Jim Ladd) talked for a few minutes, then another lady spoke. By 8:30-ish, the members of Iron Maiden still were in hiding. They started closing and opening the gate (pictured above.) Hell broke loose. LAPD with night sticks and probably riot gear removed us."

Yeah, it was intense! I was on the riser at the end of the thing during the 'riot'. I was video taping... had the Vincent Price tattoo on my left arm, BC Rich Beast on the rigth arm

good time!
