Only thing I'd suggest is to use a bit more gain.

It does have more gain on tap, just a tad more? It doesn't have that weak, high gain amp at low gain setting sound does it?

Yeah, that pretty much describes what I was hearing, though, not so much weak, just not quite "there", if you know what I mean.
