You guys like Iced Earth?

Just wondering, because Ripper Owens is officially the new singer, no one said he would stay, he was just supposed to record the vocals on the new album (which from what I heard kicks ass).

I figured it would be okay to ask this here since there isn't a whole lot going on here posting wise.

I heard the clips they had posted and I think it's actually a good change for them. I felt as though they were kind of in a rut, and I think the different vocal range of owens may help to give Jon some different ideas.

I am a HUGE Iced Earth fan but for some reason the three songs i heard from the new stuff with Ripper doesn't seem to have that Iced Earth feel to them, but that may just be because im so used to Barlow's voice. Anything that Barlow has done with that band in my opinion has been their best work. Im not saying that Ripper isn't a great singer, because i think he's awesome, I just think it'll be a while till im used to him singer in Iced Earth.

Do you recommend any songs in particular with Barlow? I only have a couple MP3s off their first album. Someone told me to try out Dante's Inferno and I honestly couldn't get into the song. I was thinking of trying out something from Dark Saga since that's the Spawn album.

I can't wait for the 2004 world tour though, as soon as I heard the Reckoning I liked it, I'll definately buy this album, the release date is October 27.

Well here's a list of my fav songs, Dracula, Phantom Opera Ghost, Dark Saga,I Died for you,Violate Vengence is Mine,Slave to the Dark,Burning Times,Stand Alone,Watching Over Me,, Burnt Offerings, Last December,The Diary,Brainwashed, basically get the whole Dark Saga and Something Wicked this Way Comes albums, pretty much all of those songs are excellent.

Agreed. Dark Saga is probably my favorite album. And "Dante's Inferno" is alright but not great. I think a lot of people are so pumped on it just because it's 17 minutes long.

Thanks, so far I've got Dracula and Phantom Opera Ghost. I didn't realise Burnt Offerings was a Barlow song, I've had that for a while and liked it.

Hey Vic, (nice avatar, Vic is the fucking best Heavy metal mascot 2nd only to eddy), check out DAys of Purgatory. It was an album that IE did after they got Barlow. It's bassically like a greatest hits album but they re-recorded a bunch of old songs that didn't have barlow. IT fucking great. But get the Euro 2 disc version because The US version is only 1 cd. You can get that vers. from either www.TheEndRecords.com or from www.centurymedia.com 's mail order. Trust me, its fucking awesome.

I thought the cover to The Horror Show was great though.. even though I thought the album was lousy.
