You have got to be F#@57*#$&$ kidding me......

I can guarantee all those companies do is buy bulk crap china made cable, throw some braided sleeving and nice connectors on it, and that's it. Probably costs those companies a whole $15 to make, then they sell them for over $1000.

Hi-Fi enthusiasts are some weird folks. These guys spend thousands upon thousands on cables, have systems worth the amount of small houses, complain about the lack of resolution and dynamic range of CDs.... yet they embrace the cracks and pops of their ancient vinyl. :)

Haha, yeah, I remember there was one power cord in particular that was posted awhile ago that took the cake, and the only positive review was this dude in Hong Kong who claimed it made a massive difference in clarity and detail and blah blah blah, undoubtedly some sickeningly rich asshole with more money than god living in a penthouse on like a 100+ story high-rise and I've gotta stop cuz now I'm getting bitter and envious :waah::lol:

My favorite was the site selling schuko extension cords, which were the white bulk stuff, that were picked by ear by some Swedish hi-fi guru. 150e/piece.

Hahahhahahahahahaha, that's rich :lol::lol:

..and they also completely disregard that most of their 'classic' records were mixed on NS10's.

All that money and then they plug it into a 10 amp receptical with 14 ga aluminum wire in their house! You would see a more noticable difference running a new 12 gauge 20 amp dedicated circuit and then use a lamp cord! HAHA!

What kills me about the whole IEC power cable thing is that the signal can only be as good as the weakest link. Consider for a fact that houses are wired up with this:

Kinda makes the whole "premium IEC cable" thing seem downright stupid.

Yeah cable companies (like monster....etc) make a fucking killing off their cables...assuming people buy them. I went to a monster convention/meeting and they told us that cables are nearly 90-95% GP....so sell sell sell. Sure they may sound a TINY bit better than the no name guy...but to sell those cables on that site for 4 -digits is fucking retarded. Aside from the shielding, sturdy connections, and reinforced conduit (none of which overly expensive to manufacture)....cables are pretty damn similar....so I can't warrant buying that for $1000+

Power does make a huge difference when you are mixing OTB. The studio I'm working at with the Neve 9098i has a huge PSU for the Neve (it's probably 10ft tall, rackmounted, several sections) and a dedicated breaker box. The owner told me the way the studio was set up and designed gives it an advantage of any other studio in town, simply because there is a dedicated power source strictly for the desk. I had no idea power made so much of a difference until we had a pretty lengthy conversation about it.

Not that that warrants purchasing overpriced cables.. just thought this added to the convo since we were talking about power.
