Hmm... well. Most of the new thrash bands are very very very very very generic and boring. But the bands that do stand out are very very good! Okay, i like Evile, and Ol is the dude who directed me towards UK Thrash in 2007. Band that i feel currently stick out from the crowd would be Heretic, HOD, Seregon and Mutant. And only one of those is real thrash, Mutant. But Mutant arent 100% thrash, there are major speed metal (Agent Steel) influences there. I do like Evile and Gama Bomb, but their previous stuff is standard thrash and not something i can listen too for a very long time, but Evile themselves are trying to break out of this a bit with their new album, and i am sure they will do great. Gama Bomb wont, but its Gama Bomb, they dont need too. I just need a new album to enjoy.
Municipal Waste... now these guys are just fun to listen too. The punk elements make it great. They are just fun, but i wouldnt listen to them everyday (same with all thrash, its very.... tiresome?) There are a few Thrash bands in the UK doing very well right now, Warpath and Pitiful Reign. But i find both to be beyond bland and boring, especially Warpath. And that leads me onto Warbringer.... i havent heard something that boring before. Maybe the new album will be better.
Now here is a band you should all listen too.... Visceral Attack, irish lads, about my age. FULL of energy! So much better than most of the modern shite.
Im not gonna get onto most american thrash because out of all theirs is the most boring and generic. Bands need to break away from this imagine and sound and just write music that isnt trying to be something else.
My top 3 are gonna be:
Mutant
HOD
Seregon
Most of this new wave is astonishingly bad, but when a band is good, it really shows.
