Since Youtube have opened up their uploads to 15mins, I can now upload our videos from our Premises shoot back in April. Wanted to test they work...

Wow, that clean part was so Oldfield'esque that i jizzed my pants. :O

I also gotta say that mix is really really nice. If 90% of bands had mixes like that I wouldn't complain.

Glasses are sexy ;)

Hehhe, I'll be sure to tell Alex our drummer that you think so ;)

Do you guys have an actual website? Tried to look it up but only got stuff about that bridge.

I'm putting one together, but right now it's just our Myspace and Reverbnation page.

Not sure which bit you mean, but thanks!!

Alex will be appreciative ;)

Cheers dude. Yeah... I had my M-Audio Profire, a Digi 002, and a ADL600 preamp. Did a bit of EQ, but not that much. Most of what you hear is just what the mic's picked up. We wanted a 'live' vibe to it, so it was just a case of hit record on the computer, hit record on the cameras, and sync it up afterwards in the edit.

Was a really rewarding and enjoyable experience. I hope we get to do it again.

It sounds real good Drew, real real good. Most of my favourite recordings that I have been involved with were very simple throw some mics up, minimal eq if any at all, done and they all capture the exact vibe of the performance, there's a lot to be said for that approach, it suits your music!

Thanks Gareth!! :)

I know what you mean... I like stuff to sound 'real' .. ie... real rooms, real cabs, etc... Getting a bit tired of this over-processed production style that a lot of heavy music has these days. It kind of gets in the way of the heaviness if that makes sense.

With the album, I tried to have as much realness as I could get. It wasn't always possible. I did need to layer the kick and snare slightly - but I've never gone in for straight replacement. It works for br00talz, but it doesn't work for subtlez....

Thanks Ermz ;)

In regards to our private message conversation; It would be great to work with you on the next album. It's a while off yet, but I hope we can arrange something when the time comes.

Wow man, I didn't even realize your band had an album out, my bad.
Just watching that first clip you posted alone is enough to make me want to buy it. Way cooler than most of the garbage youtube clips posted around here.
I wouldn't say your band is super mega innovative by any means, but as far as post rock/post metal goes, it's above average and definitely holds my interest, good stuff and to be fair it's hard to be super new when this type of music has been around for quite a while not. Still has a somewhat fresh sound to it, even if it has totally reinvented the genre.
Great playing and the recording and mix just sound really fantastic for this style of music, I dig it :)

Thanks man!

Yeah I think basically.. you're always going to be compared to band X and band Y, even if you are really innovative. Just the way people's minds work.

For instance... we are always compared to Tool and ISIS. And yes, they're two of my favourite bands - but only two of them. I also like other stuff. I listen to a lot of idm, glitch, ambient soundtrackky stuff... and it all goes into the melting pot.

I think what I like about us is that we approach it honestly. We just write what we like, and we're not trying to cater to a demographic or a certain style... we know what we like and how we want to sound, and fuck the lot of 'ya if y'all don't dig it!

Thanks again :)

Awesome man. Seen these before, but I really dig the mix and atmosphere.

Ever think of adding a keyboardist, just for the amience? I would think it'd sound great to have someone in the back droning out a really fat ambient pad synth.

Shiiiiit then we really would be compared to ISIS !!

Seriously though... we've got a song where I'm triggering some DCAM Synth Squad from a ground control pro, using Ableton Live. But I don't want to do too much of that, as logistically it's a hassle, and the rest of the guys aren't too up for a dedicated keyboardist at this point.

I still listen to Isis at least once a week, but man, I went through a LONGGGGGGGG period of listening to them everyday. Oceanic and Panopticon are just so incredible.
I must have heard each album more than 1000 times each by now in the last 2 years, surely.
Same for Tool, would listen to them every night for months on end. So having listened to those bands so much, I can hear their influence on your band and it's definitely not a bad thing to be influenced by two absolutely incredible bands :)
I always wanted a type of metal that was the total opposite to the in-yer-face riffs of death metal and most groove metal, and finding post-metal was seriously something that changed my life a bit and changed my outlook on music forever. Although, I was into Pelican first, before I found Isis.

The honesty and genuine nature really shine through, and you guys definitely sound fine without a keyboardist :)
