when do we all think new record will be out?

You know. If Joey took Franky (I'd take Jon too) and got a really kick ass real band together. I'd be just as happy. Charlie and Scott can keep screwing around.

Oh for sure!! Even if it was just a side project, or a project to try and kick Scott and Charlie into gear it would be good. I think Joey still has the energy and balls to lead any band, Frankie's also full of life and has a great presence on stage but they always seem to play second fiddle to Scott and Charlie. Okay we all have bosses we have to pander to at times, but shit Joey and Frankie kicking arse on stage with Jon and whoever else would be great.

I reckon Anthrax would be the perfect band to take on the option of coming here to record and tour. It's an ambitious plan lead by LiveNation (unfortunately) but a few of other the promoters in talks aren't that bad. The idea is that with Australia opening up bands come here, spend two weeks in quarantine and record, then after that quarantine period they are free to tour. Obviously a few things need to happen here before it's an option for all bands but with Oz and NZ more than likely opening up earlier than so many other places it poses and interesting option.

Actually another interesting point that may arise in the Anthrax camp soon is the fall out from LiveNation and Scott's comments regarding them. I don't blame him for being pissed off at LiveNation, and he basically reveals his band is not ever aiming to be more than a mid tier festival band, but what is he going to do about LiveNation? Will he just voice his opinion on social media? Will he stand up for himself and other bands? Will he avoid LiveNation and therefore avoid something like 90% of worldwide festivals? By his own admission he doesn't seem to think they'll be a headliner at these festivals, so does he cut off his nose to spite his face and risk not playing the festivals they've relegated themselves too, or does he stand up, get of his arse and start working towards real tours?
Hmmm, I'm guessing he'll go wherever the money is.

Well that's not with anything LiveNation do apparently :)
It's gotta suck for a band like Anthrax who have chosen the festival life as their desired path. On one hand it's relatively easy to play festivals, they are mid tier so that don't have to (but can) organise advertising, they don't have to organise crowds and they have little risk because they aren't the ones putting their butts on the financial line. But to be that band you have to accept LiveNation's terms which as we've seen recently are woeful and cover 90% of the festivals world wide. However on the other side if they do headline tours, gigs in venues with a support act, the risk is so much greater and the outlay becomes greater.

No risk, no reward!

Scott's reward for doing little is playing on albums like Pohsen's. Charlie's is that he gets to do Billy Eilish covers with his new squeeze.

That would be great if Joey did that. I guess it would also be fitting if Anthrax had to cover a couple of Joey's solo songs! :p;):saint:

That would be cool, especially considering Anthrax has done cover songs of side projects, i.e. SOD

Joey, Frankie, Dan Spitz, and a couple other musicians would be a killer side project

Then why the hell would they not use this down time to capitalise on that success? Even if they started now the album will not be out before many countries start opening up and moving towards gigs. It might be an acceptable (to some) 5 years between albums now but If they don't get off their arses and start this new album it will soon be 6 or 7 years between albums. Throw in the chance to do a few boring festivals with barely any real metal acts on the gig and it could easily be 8 years. Through their own actions they are becoming a nostalgia act. Although that is fairly evident from the fact they still want to cling to that stupid I'm The Man song after all these years.

Anthrax has become a nostalgia act a long, long time ago, let's face the truth

Yep I do agree, and was being polite suggesting it was a recent thing.
In some ways there is nothing wrong with that, but they really should be more than just a nostalgia act, they were one of the Big 4 for god sake.

You can't put "Dan Spitz" and "killer project" in one sentence unless you are really joking.

Sad? The guy has worked and studied to be one of the best in his field, he's achieved success in an industry few others want to. Sure it would have been nice to see him stay with Anthrax but just because his career changed tracks doesn't make it sad a life. His heart attack wouldn't have been a good experience, but reports suggest he's recovered from that. There was some rocky roads in his life but no rockier than the rest of us, his roads were just more public. At least with his TMNT guitar he would fit into the nostalgia thing well.

sad as in he went thru a stage where he hated his instrument and lost his love for music for quite a few years, would have loved for him to still be a part of anthrax but I guess some things aren't meant to be.

If Red Lamb had been a better album he may have stuck around. I think he gave Mustaine too much input.

I'd love to have on of his watches. That would be so cool.
