Bass sound on politics of ecstasy?

Hi Neil Politics of ecstasy is my favorite production that you have done, do you remember what equipment Jim used on Poe?

We used Jim's current bass at the time, along with an old blue face (late 60s) Ampeg SVT head, with an SVT 8x10 cab, along with a 15" cab as well. No DI.

Do you have any recommandations to how one should set the eq to get a simmilar sound?

yep, the POE bass sound is killer. i especially enjoy the bass breakdown in tiananmen man
i wonder if you guys used any fx for that one?

I like the bass on DNB much better - especially on The Lotus Eaters. In fact, I love how the album itself has a bassy aound to it (without actually being muddy).
What was Jim's setup for that album? And how did you get it all to sound so good?

Same setup as on PoE I believe. Same bass, same amp and cabs as well I think.

Was there a particular mic configuration you used to get that sound, Neil?

There's quite a bit of high end in there, so I always assumed that the 8x10 and 1x15 would've been mic'ed seperately.

I used either an EV RE-20 or a Sennheiser 421 on the 6x10 cab, and a Neumann 87 on the 1x15.
