01/04/2004*Iron Maiden's gonna get ya! On Broadway!

It has been rumoured many times that the theatre of Iron Maiden's shows would one day reach the hallowed stages of the West End and Broadway but now it seems the idea has been taken seriously.

Fresh on the success of modern musicals like Bombay Dreams and We will Rock You, the band have teamed up with Andrew Lloyd Webber and famous dance icon Wayne Sleep to work on bringing Dance Of Death to life!

Says Bruce, 'We always encourage a lot of theatre into our performances which was evident on Dance Of Death. I'm secretly a bit of a luvee and have been involved in stage antics (and curious trousers) since I can remember, so the idea of someone taking the monster that is Iron Maiden and giving it that Broadway feel is great! About time.'

Tentatively called 'No Prayer for the Dancing', it's loosely based on the famous book and film by Sydney Pollack - 'They Shoot Horses Don't They?' which tell of the 1930's dance marathons where people would literally dance themselves to death for prize money during the great depression.

Says Bruce, 'We're kind of thinking across between classic Gene Kelly and Monty Python's Knights of the Round Table from the movie the Holy Grail.'

Other songs to appear during this 6 hour extravaganza are 2 Tangos to Midnight, Rhyme of the Ancient Belly Dancer, Dance with your Boots On, Laces High and Be Quickstep or Be Dead.

Maiden.com's April Fools day thingies were a bit more elaborate and actually got people going before.... This one's kinda lame... ;)
