I'd check out Eletric Wizard as well. And if you're into the whole doom/death genre, November's Doom is a good band. I can't think right now and I know there's a shitload of other good doom bands.. just can't think!

if you are looking for traditional doom like candlemass, check out solitude aeturnus and pentagram.
a lot of teh good extreme bands have been mentioned already.
my favs are disembowelment, morgion, skepticism, unholy, shape of despair, thergothon, avernus, evoken, my dying bride, old paradise lost. dusk is also really good, as is paramecium (they are christian, if that matters).
i suggest you waste no more time on this thread and just head over to www.doom-metal.com
