I could have named this thread "worshippers of mid-90's style melodic black metal get (the fuck) in here". Not only is this one-man band Sühnopfer hailing from my neighborhood (Auvergne), he also reawakens the spirit of old-Satyricon, old-Dissection, old-Abigor and possibly old-Taake with astonishing impulse and precision. Improvable vocals aside, these four tracks contain some great fast-paced, sharp melodic stuff, an actual drum, aptly handled, panoptic medieval acoustic parts, and overall a sense of keeping songs alive and gripping from start to end that few debuts possess. Much recommended, indeed on pars with Himinbjorg, Hirilorn or Ancalagon in terms of unruly French debuts.

upon first listen, i like this a lot. riffwise, its not as 'shreddy' as dissection and satyricon, more tremolo based like taake, but the riffs are great and the drumming really drives the songs and has awesome fills, not just robotic beat-keeping. great reco!
