I've heard many different rumours, one of them is saying that they've split up, because they were fed up with touring with at the gates, another one is saying, that they've came to the conclusion, that they've reached the top with "Slaugther of the Soul" and to prevent becoming parodies of themselves by releasing further albums which cannot reach the quality of sots, they decided to quit at the gates

at the "They couldn't top Slaughter of the Soul album" (they topped it with their first three releases)

Anyways, they broke up because Tompa was a beligerent alcoholic and they didn't want to deal with him wreaking havoc every night. Big loss, another pop metal band bit the dust. They *should* have broken up, or at least changed their name when Alf left the band after With Fear.
