Whole new Amorphis album up on MySpace

I'm REALLY liking this album (listening to the stream now), and I've never been a huge fan of Amorphis. I dig the stuff I have heard, but nothing I would generally go out of my way to listen multiple times (sorry!).

But this new one, WOW. Love it. Has an old Paradise Lost vibe to me. The Silver Bride song is addictive.

Will definitely be picking this one up.

I think I've listened to this new on a good dozen times or so ... it's excellent. I don't think there is a particularly weak track to be found, and several that hook me in some way or another.

I think it's similar to their last two .. moreso Eclipse, but there's some subtle changes here and there that make it definately stand on it's own. This will probably be my top disc of the year.

Skyforger went straight to #1 on the official album charts in Finland. And for a good reason, the CD is plain awesome!

How do they come up with such gold so quickly? 3 awesome albums in a span of about 4 years or so. Some bands can't hope for that many great albums in a career. Here's hoping Amorphis does another tour for the new album here in the States. Would love to see them again, and need to see some new songs live as well!

Hey, FYI for anyone that has, or has ordered, the digi version of this disc.

From Amorphis.net

Dear Fans,

As many of you may have noticed, the “Skyforger” digipak release includes two very little sound level errors. We heard about this yesterday and you can imagine how we feel. As we don’t have the actual copies ourselves, we as a band couldn’t react any earlier, which makes this more painful. The album for which we gave 100% percent of ourselves, a lot of time and work, shouldn’t end up like this.

The sound level errors occur for a few seconds on two tracks: “My Sun” (piano fill) and “Skyforger” (middle part).

Why did this happen? Due to a mastering error. We can’t blame anyone for this as it seems that it has really been a technical problem and at this point it makes no difference anyway.

The good news is that Nuclear Blast are working hard to get replacement CDs for people who want to exchange their copy. Another good fact is that all other formats (jewel-case, US- & JAPAN editions, all digital versions, vinyl) work perfectly.

One thing on which we also work now in this moment is something that can’t replace the actual CDs but is at least a little relief: Nuclear Blast is offering free downloads for “My Sun” and “Skyforger” via download: http://nuclearblast.de:8080/amorphis-cv/

Beside all this mess I really hope and believe you can enjoy the album! You can also regard this digi-pack as a rare collector’s item. :)

Warmest regards,

Esa Holopainen & Amorphis fellows

I sent an email to Century Media (who I ordered the disc from) to see if they will replace my version.

It's my current favorite cd of the year. Like it so much I had to order the Jap version.

Well, the damn thing has grabbed me! I'm still not nuts about the growling, but it's not over used. With that said, there's almost a gothic/moody vibe going on here that I'm really diggin'! Plus, I love the way the band uses the keys to add to the atmosphere. I don't remember getting that vibe from their past releases, unless I wasn't paying close enough attention. Regardless, I think this is a great release and I take back what I said in earlier posts. :kickass:

I'm glad you are diggin' it, Brian. I figured I would mention it if anyone is intetested .. Century Media has a US Version w/Bonus track CD/T-Shirt combo for $22. I bought one. The shirt is of very good quality. This US version does not have the track voluming problem dicussed earlier in this thread .. that's contained stictly to the Digipack from what I understand. I received my order from CM in a little under a week.

I listened to it on the way to work this morning and I get a major Sentenced, To/Die/For, and early Poisonblack vibe from it. That's a good thing for me, because I like those bands. Am I the only one that gets this sort of vibe from the new Amorphis?
