Alatyr serves up a tranquil ode to nature in this 42 minute (DT cover not included) black metal release which is smoldering with ambient flare. Striibog's sullen cries interlaced with Igric's velutinous guitar tone will bring a tepid touch to the most coldest of shoulders. While certain passages do come off as repetitive, (the keys in Hviezdy for one), Alatyr are fan bearing the dying flames of black metal with genuine heart felt aural purity. For some inconceivable reason, I surmise that fans of Alcest would cuddle up to this album much like they would to a good book. Be it no surprise, that Alatyr is quite complimentary to such an activity.
Give it a whirl, it sure beats looking at a forlorn picture of Susperia.
